B. MEMBER MESSAGES
FROM: Scott Morgan, Cardiff University, 7/6/18
SUBJECT: PhD & Early Career conference, 10 July 2018, Cardiff University
We will be hosting a UK Fluids Network PhD & Early Career conference at
Cardiff on July 10th 2018. The event is being sponsored by the Special
Interest Group _Boundary layers and complex rotating flows _and a
programme of events is available at
We are looking for speakers at the event, so if you are interested in
giving a talk, please let me know as soon as possible
(MorganSN at cardiff.ac.uk).
The remit of the SIG is _Boundary layers and complex rotating flows _but
the talks do not have to be related to this - any general applied
mathematics talks would do perfectly.
- The date is July 10th 2018.
- Talks will be 10 minutes + 5 minutes questions.
- We will have a panel discussion Q&A as part of the event, where
attendees will be given the chance to ask panel members questions about
post-PhD academic life and some dos and don'ts of applying for academic
- Following the event, we will have an informal gathering/trip to the
pub so if anyone is planning on staying around in Cardiff afterwards,
you are more than welcome to come along!
I've put together a Google form to sign up - so please use that to
express your interest in attending - https://goo.gl/forms/

SUBJECT: 6th International Advanced Course on Liquid Interfaces, Drops
and Sprays (LIDESP VI)
The 6th International Advanced Course on Liquid Interfaces, Drops and
Sprays (LIDESP VI) will be held at TU Wien (Austria), from 4th to 7th
September 2018, just before the Euromech Fluid Mechanics Conference.
The course focuses on the physics of drops and sprays, based on recent
research results and the most up-to-date methods for the prediction of
dynamic outcomes, heat transfer, wettability effects, and their
applications. In addition to standard modules, this edition also
features a special one-day module on multiphase flow dynamics and
simulation, available as a stand-alone module at reduced registration
fee. The course is sponsored by the European Institute of Liquid
Atomization and Spray Systems (ILASS EUROPE) and the Technical
University of Vienna (Austria).
More information, including the course program and registration info,
