Dear Surface and Internal Waves SIG members,
Would you mind to forward the message below to your students, as well as to people you might find it interesting?
This is a great opportunity for research students to showcase their work and meet many of their research colleagues from both the UK and Ireland. Students with accepted presentations will receive financial support towards travelling costs and accommodation. There will be also prizes for the best talks and posters. The event is designed to allow social interaction with extended coffee breaks, posters sessions and social activities in the evenings. ?
Many thanks in advance!
Best wishes,
Francisco

The University of Bath <http://go.bath.ac.uk/siam-ima> Chapter<http://go.bath.ac.uk/siam-ima> of <http://go.bath.ac.uk/siam-ima> SIAM<http://go.bath.ac.uk/siam-ima> and IMA<http://go.bath.ac.uk/siam-ima> is hosting the 7<http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018>th<http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018> <http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018> SIAM<http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018> UKIE National Student <http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018> Chapter<http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018> <http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018> Conference<http://go.bath.ac.uk/snscc-2018>. This will take place on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th June 2018 and is expected to be one of the biggest student conferences in Mathematical Sciences this year in the UK, with over 100 students attending each day.
?
The aim of the conference is to bring together students working in applied or industrial mathematics, and areas which use them, from across the UK and Ireland. There will be the opportunity for students to showcase their research through a contributed talk or poster, and to discuss more informally over coffee, lunch and in the social activities before, during and after the conference.
We welcome talks and posters from any area of applied mathematics, statistics, correlated areas (e.g. physics, engineering, economics, pharmacy, social sciences, etc) or any mathematics which has potential applications to industry. There will be prizes for 'best' poster and talks. Both travel support and accommodation will be provided for UK/Ireland students with accepted presentations, thanks to our generous sponsors.?
During the two days of conference, we will host four fantastic plenary speakers:
Marta Blangiardo (Imperial College London, UK)
? Modelling spatio-temporal data: methods, examples and challenges
Simon Chandler-Wilde (University of Reading, UK)
Coercivity of second kind boundary integral equations on Lipschitz domains
Ian Griffiths (University of Oxford, UK)
iPhones and Dysons: using fluid dynamics to tailor technology
Nicole Spillane (CMAP, École Polytechnique, France)
Domain Decomposition Methods with Adaptive Multipreconditioning
The registration is free of charge. Lunch and refreshments will be provided on both day.
The relevant deadlines for the conference are:
* The deadline for contributed talk abstracts is Friday 27th April 2018.
* The deadline for poster submissions is Friday 27th April 2018.
* The deadline for registration is Friday, 18th May 2018.
We follow both the SIAM<https://www.siam.org/about/inclusiveness.php> Statement on Inclusiveness<https://www.siam.org/about/inclusiveness.php> and the IMA Diversity Statements<https://ima.org.uk/about-us/diversity-statements/>, and we endeavour to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at the conference, with a diverse range of participants. Students from groups which are underrepresented in STEM subjects are particularly encouraged to submit an abstract for a talk or poster.
